Information about the documents needed for verification and the KYC process

Know Your Customer (KYC) is standard practice for any company offering financial services. Identity verification as part of KYC protects our members against fraud, money laundering, and illegal activities in our ecosystem. Financial platforms are required by law to collect this data from their customers and avoid the attempt of these types of financial crimes as part of anti-money laundering (AML) measures.

All you need to create a hi account and start chatting through our hi channel is your phone number. However, for your security, we kindly ask that you complete a simple KYC identity verification check before transferring or withdrawing money. This is a standard procedure that helps us protect our valued members safe and prevent any potential fraud.

Rest assured that all the information you provide will be kept confidential and will only be used for verification purposes. Once your identity has been verified, you will be able to transfer and withdraw money without any further delays.

Prepare for KYC

Our system will guide you through the process of taking a picture(s) of your government-issued ID document and a selfie for your KYC application. Please note that we DO NOT accept pre-ready photographs. To make things easier, we have a step-by-step guide available on how to verify your identity here.

What kind of documents are acceptable?

We accept a Passport, National Identity Card, or Residence Permit as valid forms of identification. Please make sure that your ID documents are valid for at least one month after submission. These documents must be government-issued and include the following information:

  1. Your full name,

  2. Date of birth,

  3. Personal security number(where available),

  4. Signature(except for the cases where it is optional in the identity document),

  5. Citizenship

Please note:

Account opening is exclusively through the hi iOS or Android apps, or our Web App, therefore there is no need to send us the required information by email or through the in-app chat.

Is it OK to set up more than one account for a single person on hi?

Only one account will be recognized per user. If you are found to have used different people's identity documents in order to set up multiple accounts, hi will close all your accounts and you will lose all rewards earned to date.

Can I create multiple accounts with the same email address?

In order to safeguard members of our community, we do not allow joint accounts. Individuals are not permitted to manage, directly or indirectly, more than one account with us. If you believe there has been an error, please get in touch with our support team via live chat.
